Swamp queen palette swatches and review

This is going to sound insanely cheesy but the second I laid my eyes on a picture of this palette,  I was in love.

I had already fallen in love with Tarte back in December through their tartelette palette and have since then dreamed of owning Every. Single. Palette. In case you’ve never used tarte cosmetics before,  their formulas are insanely smooth, pigmented,  and stay on for hours. Did I mention they’re all natural and cruelty free? Yeah,  literally perfection.

Anyways, when this palette came out online I was like okay do I really  need another palette? Sure,  it was beautiful,  but I wasn’t sure it was something I needed to buy.  Well, fast forward to Nicol Concilio’s review of this palette.  It was the first video I watched of her’s and the first time I saw this palette in action.  I fell deeply in love with both. But, by the time I finally decided to buy it, it was sold out online everywhere.  Darn. So,  I had to wait until the in store release.  Fast forward again to a few days ago. I was walking past Sephora on my lunch break,  remembered it had just come in the day before,  screamed SWAMP QUEEN,  then ran inside to buy it. Now,  as a result of this long rambling story, I bring you my review of Grav3yard Girl X tarte swamp queen palette. Enjoy!

First reaction, the packaging is pretty cute,  like most all tarte packaging is. I love the magnetic closure on this,  it makes it super easy to open when you’re rushing around trying to do a million things at once. Also,  it easily snaps closed almost automatically so you don’t have to worry about your palette not getting closed all the way as I do with some other palettes.

Now, on to the inside. I love that it comes with a brush! The shades are all gorgeous and shimmery,  the mirror is nice and big (mirrors inside palettes are always an added bonus for me)

This was one of the easiest swatches I have ever done. The shades are so smooth and pigmented that most of these were honestly just a single swipe.

There is very little fallout from this palette,  and the shades apply very smoothly with the included brush. I used eyeshadow primer and setting spray and my shadow stayed on all day long!

For this look I used natural peaches as a base,  sassy bun on the inner corners,  and mancat on the outer corners. Sorry it’s not the best quality picture,  I just snapped it really quickly in the bathroom at work.

Here’s my full face from that look. I also used the blush,  bronzer,  and highlight that come in the palette on my cheeks then used the highlight on my nose, Cupid’s bow, and chin.

So far,  I think this palette is amazing and everyone should try to get their hands on one.  It has such a great range of colors it will work with a variety of skin tones. I may even buy myself a backup 😉
